What's it like?
Rhodes is packed with tourists, and so it should be because no one should miss this spectacular ancient city. It may be tempting to stay in the new town to avoid the crowds, but don’t do it, as the well preserved old town is a treat. No Rhodes holiday is complete without visiting the imposing Palace of the Grand Masters, and there are numerous museums (including the excellent Archaeological museum in one of the old templar houses). There is a lot to be said for just walking around the streets, taking it all in, so long as there isn’t a cruise ship around, as the streets fill to capacity when this happens. Hotels in Rhodes can be found to suit most budgets, and ones in the old town are usually worth paying a little more for.
